Un Loup Pour l’Homme (FRANCE) French contemporary circus company Un Loup Pour l’Homme and their four acrobats put into play the secure strength and the power of their living bodies. Place: Skënderbeu square (Mother Theresa)

FACE NORD

French contemporary circus company Un Loup Pour l’Homme and their four acrobats put into play the secure strength and the power of their living bodies. Their path is a course with obstacles, made up of surprising and playful acrobatic games in which they constantly invent the rules. Walking, running, catching, grabbing, climbing, climbing further, always moving forward…

'Knowing you will lose does not prevent from struggling', as these four acrobats tell us, stubbornly obliging themselves to the accomplishment and taking pleasure of each challenge.

They take us together with their bodies to the limits of their physiological reality and at the edges of the laws of physics. With a script written as rules of a game, FACE NORD is an attempt to revive into the humankind the playful innocence of a child, hence the origins and essential values of this acrobatic quest.

Face Nord is presented in the framework of the project Ride&Camp, carried by Un Loup Pour l'Homme, supported by Teatroskop (a programme initiated by French Institute, Ministry of Culture and Communication and Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs), City of Lille, Région Hauts-de-France and French Embassy in Kosovo.

22:00
OPENING UP THE FESTIVALPlace: Teatri ODA - Pallati i Rinisë, nr. 111 (rr. Rinia, 7)

After the opening show - Face Nord by Un Loup Pour l’Homme, we open the Festival with a short performance by Ludifico. They play with fire, they play the fire. Their props play images. Their bodies invite you to play with us. We will then proceed with a 'Playing Walk' accompanied by Team Prap, Prishtina parkour and freerunners playing with their bodies and leading our way to Teatri ODA where music is being played by May-Linda Kosumovic and Doresa Rexha. Come on, play with us and let's open up HAPU.

Everyone is invited!

18:00
OPEN UP with Artists of Un Loup Pour l’Homme (FRANCE)Place: Project Space

What is their path to playing games and how they every time create new rules? What are the experiences of artists who use their body as a tool to convey the messages? What are the limitations of their psychological reality that they explore and what are the boundaries of the laws of physics for them? Why is it important to use this form of expression in public spaces?

20:00
Donika Rudi (KOSOVO) ODE TO LIFE Place: Zahir Pajaziti square (in front of Grand Hotel)

The surroundings have an impact on our lives way before we develop the sense one’s self, even way before we see for the first time. We grow from this world, the way the apples grow from the trees, in one of the most complex, magical, and intriguing journeys of our lifetimes. The soundscape of our surroundings impact us even in the womb during our journey. Ode to Life explores the journey through one of the first senses that a developing fetus develops - the sense of hearing and the physical feeling. Starting from the vibrations of surrounding sounds, to the recognition of voices, you can go through nine stages of soundscaping: love, me, language, cultural identity, architectonic landscape, open spaces, the soul of the ‘city’, one’s self, advent – we are here.

A perspective from within mother’s belly. A construction, in an open space. Through an octophonic sound projection the inside influences the outside.

OPEN UP with artists: Donika Rudi & Fitore Alísdóttir Berisha (KOSOVO)Place: Project Space

What are the differences in working in public space with those in concert halls or exhibitions in the gallery? Why is it necessary for the Kosovo public to be offered other non-conventional forms of artistic presentation? What are the challenges of presenting work in public spaces? How have their experiences abroad have influenced to experiment with different artistic forms?

Teatri ODA & Un Loup Pour l’Homme (KOSOVO, FRANCE)THE PLAY
Work in progress
Place: Skënderbeu square (Mother Theresa)

Teatri ODA has been working for a long time to develop new artistic skills for Kosovo artists. In this frame and in collaboration with the circus company Un Loup Pour l'Homme we are developing contemporary circus skills for our artists and our audiences. A group of Kosovo physical actors and parkour artists, working together with French acrobats are presenting a work in progress, aiming to continue further the artistic research through physical material and share the exploration of the complexity of the human nature, revealing its greatness and weakness and observing the relationship between the individual and the group, always expressed with the body language.

While challenging the game and the playing, this artistic process is based upon principles of:
GAME: by its playful and universal aspect makes it possible to highlight the multiple possibilities of the person. The rules of the game are constantly modified or reinvented.
TRANSFORMATION, ADAPTABILITY AND MOBILITY: Acrobats are people with the ability to adapt. Changing roles, changing partners.
TOGETHERNESS: Seeking essence of the practice within the simplicity always together.
PRESENCE, STATE AND QUALITY OF THE BODY: while being in a concrete physical action.
DOME and BRIDGE: Dare to try new body architectures.
TRUST: developing self-confidence and the other, playing with fears and defeating them.
READINESS and WILLINGNESS: always say yes to proposition.

Marco Barotti (GERMANY, ITALY)THE WOODPECKERS Place: Teatri ODA - Pallati i Rinisë, nr. 111 (rr. Rinia, 7)

Italian sound artist living in Berlin, Marco Barotti is bringing his installation THE WOODPECKERS. Custom-made android birds are programmed as musical instruments. They will be positioned in different corners of chosen spots in Prishtina and Fushë Kosova.

The Woodpeckers transform in real time the invisible radiations used for mobile communication and wireless technology into audible and visible acoustic drumming patterns. The sonic result is a generative acoustic composition which undergoes constant transformation. A live soundscape which resonates as invading drum ensemble into urban and natural environments.

Asphalt Piloten (SWITZERLAND)TAPE RIOT Place: Skënderbeu square (Mother Theresa)

The Swiss based company Asphalt Piloten is bringing us their TAPE RIOT. An interdisciplinary performance which exists in a public urban utopia. Dance, visual arts, music and video meet one another and react to the environment. The creation of new spaces, intervals and changes of view, playing with perspectives through the use of adhesive tape, allows the viewer to escape their everyday environment for a short time and perhaps even revitalizes it.

Tape Riot is an infiltration, inviting the questioning of the moment. Initially it merely causes the onlookers' gaze to shift slightly, prompting silent curiosity: Is this normal? Is this real? Two dancers disrupt the pace of passersby pushing the degree of dissociation still further. Lines are drawn splitting the space... Are they defining a frame of reference or opening up perspectives to the beyond? Sounds intermingle and the road signs blend in; the traffic flow has switched direction. This dynamism triggers the strange sensation of having seen the urban space quite differently and with a smile... Did it change our way of looking at things? Or just our point of view?

Collective of artists (ITALY, FRANCE, UK, KOSOVO)THE SNOWBALL EFFECT
work in progress
Place: Adem Jashari square (Prishtina City hall)

A contemporary creation format. A framework to investigate the themes surrounding the idea of community. The Snowball Effect explores how communities come together and what divides them. How it is possible to create a community that holds together members despite them having conflicting views and ideologies?!

Not to provide answers, we are searching for ways of formulating new questions. We are interested in promoting social connections and interactions while questioning the nature of identity and the processes involved in the forming, and the fracturing, of communities.

You are the real protagonist in The Snowball Effect, providing the inspiration and the experience alongside the artists. You can take active part in the performance by singing up.

You can sign up by calling 049 - 246 555 or write us a message at www.facebook.com/hapufest.

If you don't want to take part actively, come and be an observer. As an audience you will follow the performance leading to the final act of The Snowball Effect: a celebration of awareness, a jubilant declaration of how we wish to see and to be seen by others.

The Snowball Effect is produced by UZ Arts (Scotland) with co-producers Atelier 231 (France); La Strada Graz (Austria); Ctyri Dny (Czech Republic); Festival di Terni (Italy); Teatri ODA (Pristina). Other co-producers are added as the snowball rolls.

What are the main differences of experiences with the public in different European countries? What are the benefits and challenges of collaboration with artists from different countries? What are the techniques that have been developed to find the differences between other cultures? What are the main goals of this artistic exploration? How can we develop harmony among people coming from different countries and cultures?

work in progress
Place: Mother Theresa street (at the Ministry of Culture)

It’s a great time to go outside. The sun is setting down, and there’s a breeze in the air. Prishtina looks good at this time of the day. There’s music in the air, and art on the streets. Except this time, it is hidden in plain sight. Fitore Berisha, a well known artist for some, and a charismatic character for others, is creating a hidden art experiment, and we’re inviting you to be a part of this beautiful exploration. Play the game, enjoy the moment of finding and discovering, feel the echoes of her art. Let’s take a map and find hidden art. Let’s look for clues in every corner. Art is appreciated when you struggle with it. Fitore surely knows. So should you!

CLOSING OF THE FESTIVALPlace: Teatri ODA - Pallati i Rinisë, nr. 111 (rr. Rinia, 7)

After eight days of playing in and around our public spaces we invite you to close the festival by playing and dancing together in ODA Theatre. Rudina Xhaferi and Blerta Zeqiri will be playing wonderful music of 80's and 90's to wrap it up and say 'PlayAgain next year'!

Everybody is invited!

Open Up and Play!

Dear friends and players,

This year for the fifth time, we are setting up a playground: the city, the public space. Playing is not a free time activity. Playing is learning and experiencing. By playing we put ourselves in different perspectives. We explore and discover our playground: ourselves and our society. Very often we are being played or we play, but it's not called a game and it is not a performance. Much more 'serious' names are used: public domain, public debate, public space.

This year, HAPU is extending its playground to Fushë Kosova too. In HAPU we invite you to open up and play with us. Not because we want to entertain you, but because playing is not a luxury, it is a way to better understand our being, the others and the society. It is fun too!

We have played the programming puzzle and are opening HAPU with acrobats of Un Loup Pour l'Homme, who push their physical limits in the game they constantly reinvent the rules. These acrobats will be playing with our actors before the Festival to bring in Kosovo these new skills and scratch new circus playing experiences for the future. Donika Rudi will be playing for us her composition of a musical journey through nine stages of life.

This year's HAPU will be also a playground for Swiss based Asphalt Piloten, playing with perspectives through the use of adhesive tape and bodies of performers. At the other corners of public spaces, android woodpeckers of Marco Barotti will play audible and visible acoustic drumming patterns, reinterpreting our playing with mobile communication and wireless technology. Fitore Berisha invented another type of playfulness, the quest for the hidden art. In The Snowball effect, members of the audience are protagonists, they lay the ground for playing with artists with observers as an audience. Playing the game of the community enriches us in many aspects.

We are creating HAPU as a result of our position of a meaningful player among our partners in IN SITU. This European "game" is a great and very fruitful endeavor and experience. European players are meeting Kosovar audience and Kosovo players are meeting European audiences. Therefore, open up and play with us, with artists, with fellow citizens.
